I chose Vampire Academy because just before I was going to start the post, I finally found someone I'd like as Rose who isn't too old - they are actually making a movie (well, the rights have been sold) but most of my cast choices are far too old now (like Odette Yustman, Sophia Bush and Elisabeth Harnois for Lissa).
I'll try and choose suggestions that are still in their playing-high-school-students stage in their acting (keep in mind though that contacts exist, hair dye exists and Hollywood does tend to have people in their twenties playing teens). Also, this is just the first book so characters like Adrian won't be included.

ReplyDeleteMhmm, there's other people I'd like as Dimitri but they're too old and wouldn't pass for Dimitri's age and it'd make the relationship with Rose very creepy/robbing-the-cradle-ish. :)

DeleteLandon Liboiron? Haven't considered him before. I can sort of see it though! I like the Viktor and Mason. Not much of a fan for the others.
ReplyDeleteI don't really like the choices for Rose and Lissa. What I loved most about VA's characters is that even though they're teenagers, they speak and act like they're older (especially Rose). They're MATURE. Those actresses look like little girls. I know she's like in her mid-thirties now, but I'd still love to see Odette Yustman as Rose. And Ben Barnes is the perfect Dimitri. Just my opinion :)
ReplyDeleteFair enough - honestly, if age wasn't an issue at all then I would've chosen differently.
DeleteTo be fair though, the actresses I chose don't actually look like little girls on screen (except maybe Lucy Hale) and they're older than 17 (Phoebe is 21, Shelley is 25, Lucy is 22 - the Lissa choices are younger, Skyler and AnnaSophia are 18, but Candice is 24). They're at the age where they can still pass as high school students in a movie though and if they were cast and all the movies were made then they'd be in their mid/late twenties by the time the final movie was made.
But yeah, my book dream cast is usually different because I'd choose people like Odette and Elisabeth Harnois where age isn't much of a factor. =P
i really like Phoebe Tonkin for Rose !! What about Adrian ? I know he's not in the first VA book but I would love to see your casting choice for this character :)
ReplyDeleteThat's why he's not in the fan cast, I wanted to stick to the first book. My Adrian choices are all too old (Hayden Christensen, Ed Westwick, James Franco etc.), they're all pretty but can pull off the good-but-bad boy thing and be intoxicated a lot without seeming trashy/pathetic.
